Grapefruits
Grapefruits taste refreshingly tangy. Unlike other varieties, Star Ruby is sweeter, more aromatic and less bitter, which is why it is particularly popular. The grapefruit is a cross between an orange and a shaddock. The fruits ripen on the tree in a grape-like umbel (GRAPEfruit: grape) over several months. Their delicately reddish flesh is coloured by the secondary plant substance lycopene. The bitter substances are found in the segmental skin.
